Oh, the things kids say....

This evening, on the way home from swim lessons, a fire truck passed by in front of us with his lights on. Natalie, very matter-of-factly says "I bet he has his lights on because he is excited to go to a birthday party". When I asked why he needed his lights on to go to a party, she says "so other people know where to go to find it"! Guess I should have known that!!

Here are a few other things she has said lately:

Natalie: I LOVE summer. It's hot like the desert. I want to wear my ma-kini
Mom: You mean your ba-kini?
Natalie: Yeah, that's what I said

Natalie: People like me b/c I have cute nipples
Dad: Gina, what have you been teaching her??
Mom: You mean, cute dimples?
Natalie: Yeah, that's what I said

Sleepy Girl

Tonight, Natalie was in my room helping me fold laundry. Missy Kaitlyn was in her room, in bed, book picked out and singing one of her favorite Glee songs...."she rode the midnight train going anywhere..." Even Natalie commented on how cute she was singing in there while she waited for us to finish. Not even realizing that all of a sudden it had become very quiet, we walked into their room to read a bedtime story (Kaitlyn had picked out "Walter the Farting Dog") and found Kaitlyn fast asleep. Today was a rough day for her.....must of been tired!

Missing May

Found these on my camera tonight....one of those crazy days in May where we had all that rain. Kaitlyn decided it would be fun to run around in the rain IN her undies!! A free little spirit that girl! Looks like fun!

Summer fun

The girls caught a frog while swimming yesterday. We had another one in the pool today.

Swim lessons

This last Thursday wrapped up the girls 1st session of swim lessons. They both did great. Kaitlyn wasn't a huge fan of the cold water and decided she didn't want to swim one day. Once she found out that she wasn't going to learn how to swim if she didn't get in the pool (duh!) she decided it would be a good idea to get back in the next day. I think having a new swim suit helped :) Natalie is doing so good. She can swim underwater almost 1/2 the width in one breath, going almost the entire way unassisted. She is even learning some stokes and is quite proud to show off in our little blow up pool at home.

Doing the free style

Learning the backstroke

Simon Says......

.....blow bubbles...

......kick your feet.....

Swimming out to her teacher

Their favorite part at the end of the lesson...

....jumping off the edge!!!

The last day of lessons everyone gets to jump off the diving board. Just like the previous 2 years, Natalie was first in line in her class.

And Kaitlyn jumped twice.....she probably would have gone all day if she could!

Success!! The girls are excited for another session starting Monday!!

Fallen Leaf Lake

Headed to the Sierras and camped at one of our favorite places, Fallen Leaf Lake. It was much colder that we are used to. Hard to think it is the middle of June and we barely hit the high 60's on Saturday. Could have lived with out the wind as well, but we all survived and had a great time. We had a bear come through the campsite on Friday night, stealing Uncle Kerry's peanut butter and jelly. He also held Auntie Heather hostage in her tent for 2 hours.....she REALLY had to pee!! He threw a few plastic tubs but otherwise didn't make too big of a mess. We went to our favorite fishing pond, but it was super windy and appeared to have not been stocked yet...alas, no fish this year. We then headed over to the lake (Kerry had never seen Lake Tahoe before) and surprisingly it was a bit less windy and a bit warmer. The kids spent the entire time in the freezing water, building a sand castle and burying their legs in the sand. The cold water never seems to phase them!

Cole and a caterpillar he caught.

Brrrrr....

To keep from getting crumbs all over her clothes, I told Kaitlyn to lean over a little....she took it a bit too far :)

Staying warm by the fire.

Cole explaining the specifics of fishing

Still a lot of snow on the mountain.

Heavenly, snow less

24 weeks on the shore of Lake Tahoe

Donner Summit still with lots of snow
